Johnson throws 4 TDs, Georgetown tops Marist 39-14

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) — Gunther Johnson threw for 369 yards and four touchdowns and Georgetown's defense forced four turnovers as the Hoyas rolled past Marist 39-14 Saturday in the season opener.

Each of Johnson's scoring passes went to a different receiver. Max Edwards hauled in a 27-yard catch-and-run as Georgetown led 11-0 at halftime. Michael Dereus, Winston Jackson and Joshua Tomas scored in the second half. Jackson led with four catches for 114 yards, Dereus caught five for 99 yards.

Blaise Brown picked off two Marist passes in the first quarter. Early in the second half George Ikott took down Marist's Jacob Hallenbeck with a strip sack. Duval Paul scooped up the ball and ran it in from the 9.

Mike Husni threw for 73 yards including a 7-yard touchdown to Jon Kanda, who made a one-handed catch in the back corner of the end zone. Jacob Hallenbeck threw for 44 yards with two interceptions.
