Senior Hernandez scores 26, LIU Brooklyn beats Sacred Heart (Feb 24, 2018)

NEW YORK (AP) Joel Hernandez scored 26 points for his 18th game this season with 20-plus, Raiquan Clark added 20 points and LIU Brooklyn beat Sacred Heart 88-77 on Saturday.

Hernandez, a senior, scored 15 of his points in the second half to help keep the Blackbirds' hopes of a home tournament game alive. He was one of three seniors, along with Jamall Robinson and Zach Coleman, playing their final regular-season home game.

Jashaun Agosto chipped in 17 points for LIU Brooklyn (15-16, 10-8 Northeast Conference). Coleman had eight points and 10 boards, and Robinson scored seven.

The Blackbirds started the game shooting 68.8 percent from the field for a 25-9 lead - with seven points apiece from Hernandez and Robinson.

Joseph Lopez had 17 points and 11 rebounds for Sacred Heart (10-21, 5-13), which will not play in the conference tournament. Sean Hoehn added 16 points and Chris Robinson and Charles Tucker Jr. added 12 points.
