Prairie View A&M sweeps Alabama A&M with 71-58 win (Feb 26, 2018)

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (AP) Dennis Jones had 14 points and 10 assists, Gary Blackston also scored 14, and Prairie View A&M never trailed in defeating Alabama A&M 71-58 on Monday night to sweep the season series.

J.D. Wallace added 13 points and 11 rebounds and Iwin Ellis scored 11 for the Panthers (13-17, 10-6 Southwestern Athletic Conference), who outscored the Bulldogs 42-24 in the paint and scored 23 points off 19 turnovers.

Blackston's jumper capped the Panthers' opening 10-5 run and Prairie View led by as many as 14 points en route to a 32-23 halftime lead.

The Bulldogs closed to 40-37 on Evan Wiley's free throw early in the second half, but got no closer. The Panthers scored seven straight and led by 15 on Juan Hood's layup with 58 seconds to play.

Andre Kennedy scored 12 points and Julian Walters and Wiley added 10 apiece for the Bulldogs (2-27, 2-14), who have lost 12 straight.
