Mercer tops Chattanooga 84-75 (Feb 10, 2018)

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) Desmond Ringer had 17 points and seven rebounds, Ross Cummings added 16 points with four 3-pointers and Mercer beat Chattanooga 84-75 on Saturday.

Mercer made 3-pointers on back-to-back possession with under two minutes to play for an 80-73 lead. Cummings sank a 3 from the corner and Jordan Strawberry drove the lane and passed it out to an open Demetre Rivers for a 3 with 41.9 seconds to go.

Strawberry and Rivers each added 13 points for Mercer (12-13, 5-7 Southern Conference) and Stephon Jelks had 12 as all five starters finished in double figures. The Bears led by as many as 14 points in the second half.

Rodney Chatman scored 24 points with six assists for Chattanooga (9-18, 3-11). Makinde London added 15 points and Joshua Phillips 14. The Mocs were 22-25 from the stripe, but got outrebounded 25-17.
