Galbreath leads Sam Houston St. over Northwestern St. 75-52 (Jan 17, 2018)

HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) Christopher Galbreath Jr. scored 17 points and grabbed a career-best 15 rebounds and Sam Houston State posted its fifth-straight win, beating Northwestern State 75-52 on Wednesday night.

It was Galbreath's eighth double-double this season for the Bearkats (11-8, 5-1 Southland Conference) who are on a five-game streak. Jamal Williams also had 17 points and added eight rebounds. Abrian Edwards had 13 points and five rebounds.

Sam Houston took the lead four minutes in and had the advantage all the way after that, building to a 27-19 edge at the break.

Galbreath scored six points as part of an 11-2 run to start the second half, extending the Bearkats' lead to 38-21 with 16:27 to play. Northwestern State's Ishmael Lane cut it to 40-29 with a dunk but Galbreath, Edwards and Marcus Harris replied with 11 quick points to open it up again, 51-37, with 11:24 left and the Bearkats cruised from there.

Lane scored 20 points with 13 rebounds for the Demons (3-14, 0-6) who have lost nine straight.
