Furman beats Wofford 78-69 behind Acox's career-best 25 (Feb 25, 2017)

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) Kris Acox scored a career-high 25 points on 12-of-14 shooting, including his 1,000th career point, and Furman held off Wofford 78-69 on Saturday to snap a two-game skid and remain locked in a top-three finish in Southern Conference standings.

Geoff Beans hit a career-high six 3-pointers for 18 points for the Paladins (21-10, 14-4), who can still win a share of the conference regular season title.

Cameron Jackson's layup put Wofford up 52-46 early in the second half. Acox made back-to-back layups and a dunk and Furman led 55-54 with 11:52 left. Wofford led 58-57 after Fletcher Magee's 3 and free throw, trailed, then tied it at 60 on Derrick Brooks' layup.

Jonathan Jean and Devin Sibley made layups, Bean hit his sixth 3-pointer, and Furman led 67-60 with 5:22 left. Wofford closed to 71-68 on Brooks' two free throws with 1:35 left but go no closer.

Jackson scored 24 points with 10 rebounds for Wofford (15-16, 10-8), which saw its two-game win streak end.
