Freshman Scott scores 21 in Loyola Marymount's 76-64 victory (Nov 15, 2017)

LOS ANGELES (AP) Eli Scott scored 21 points and Loyola Marymount defeated UC Riverside 76-64 on Wednesday night for its first win this season.

Scott, a freshman, made 7 of 15 shots and collected six rebounds for the Lions (1-1). Mattias Markusson, a 7-foot-3 sophomore from Sweden, scored a career-high 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds. James Batemon added 12 points and Steven Haney 10.

The Lions took the lead for good at 22-15 in the first half with a 14-3 run. Scott scored seven points to begin a 12-3 run that left LMU ahead by 12 with 11:15 remaining in the game, and the lead remained in double figures.

Dikymbe Martin scored 20 points with five assists for the Highlanders (1-1), who were coming off a win at Cal. Brandon Rosser added 15 points and Alex Larsson, of Sweden, scored 14.

UCR was hurt by 19 turnovers while LMU, led by Scott and Haney, got 45 points from its bench.
