Bakersfield cruises to 75-53 win over Texas-Rio Grande (Feb 11, 2017)

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) Damiyne Durham scored 17 points and Matt Smith got his second double-double of the season to lead Cal State Bakersfield to a 75-53 win over Texas-Rio Grande Valley on Saturday night.

Shon Briggs added 12 points and Jaylin Airington had 11 for Bakersfield, which has won six in a row. Durham got a trio of 3-pointers and was 7 of 12 from the field, while Smith finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Durham nailed a 3-pointer with 26 seconds left in the opening half to cap a 17-3 run that put Bakersfield (17-7, 8-1 Western Athletic Conference) up 40-24 at halftime. The Roadrunners, with sole possession of first place in the WAC, continued to pull away in the second half.

Nick Dixon got 16 points and Lew Stallworth had 11 to pace the Vaqueros (10-17, 2-8), who have lost five straight.
