Norwich distanced itself from the relegation zone and pushed Reading closer to the drop with a 2-1 win Saturday over the last-place club, only its second win in 17 Premier League matches.

Ryan Bennett and Elliott Bennett scored within three minutes of each other after the break as Norwich climbed to 13th, seven points clear of 18th-place Wigan.

Garath McCleary pulled a goal back in the 72nd but Reading remains 10 points from safety with 12 to play for and looks certain to return to the League Championship after one season in the top flight.

Reading's away record has been miserable, with five points on the road this season, and they knew they must end the Canaries' six-match unbeaten run at Carrow Road, which included a victory over Everton.
