The 21-year-old had joined the Latics on loan in August until January and Martinez had feared Sir Alex Ferguson would recall his starlet. Cleverley had been a hit for the Premier League strugglers as he netted three goals in 13 games and impressed with his mature displays. However, it has been decided that the England Under 21 international can now remain at the DW Stadium for the duration of the campaign, much to Martinez's delight. "Getting Tom to the end of the season was one of our biggest aims," he said. "He is the best possible signing we could have made. I spoke to Sir Alex and he confirmed Tom will stay with us. "That's great news. It's fine to get carried away with bringing new players in but they may not adapt to the Premier League. "To have a player with the potential Tom has got is just really good news for Wigan."
