Ligue One Roundup, Feb. 20
Two quickfire goals set Le Mans on their way to a vital 3-1 away
victory against their Ligue 1 relegation rivals Boulogne on
Saturday.
Mathieu Dossevi and Gregory Cerdan's efforts opened up a
two-goal interval lead and the impressive Didier Ovono made several
fine saves.
Mustapha Yatabare eventually found a way past the Gabon
international to halve the deficit but Modibo Maiga's injury-time
goal assured Le Mans of victory.
Goals from Issam Jemaa and Sebastien Roudet before the break
and a penalty in the second half from Henri Bedimo earned Lens a
3-0 win over Monaco.
The home side showed no signs of weariness after being take
to extra-time by Brest in the Coupe de France in midweek against
their high-flying visitors.
Nice coach Didier Olle-Nicolle was granted a stay of
execution as his team snatched their first victory in three months
at home to Lorient.
Loic Remy grabbed the only goal of the game from the penalty
spot in the 56th minute and, despite Lorient's plethora of chances,
the visitors could not find the equaliser.
St Etienne striker Emmanuel Riviere struck the only goal 11
minutes from time to end high-flying Montpellier's run of five
straight wins and Carlos Sanchez headed the first-half winner as
Valenciennes jumped to eighth place in the table with a 1-0 victory
away to Grenoble.
The match between Bordeaux and Auxerre was postponed with the
home side due to be in Champions League action on Tuesday.
In the late game, Paris Saint-Germain climbed further away
from the relegation zone as Guillaume Hoarau netted the only goal
from the penalty spot in the 1-0 win over Toulouse, who had Albin
Ebondo sent off for the challenge which led to the spot-kick.
