Federico Higuain helps Crew tie Fire 1-1
BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (AP) Federico Higuain scored 10 seconds into the second half for Columbus in the Crew's 1-1 tie with the Chicago Fire on Saturday night.
Ethan Finlay redirected a one-hopper from midfield and Fire defender Patrick Ianni overplayed the clearance attempt. Higuain gathered the loose ball, evaded Lovel Palmer and struck the ball into the left corner for his eighth goal of the season.
Mike Magee opened the scoring for the Fire in the 37th minute after Tyson Wahl conceded a penalty on a handball in the area. Goalkeeper Steve Clark guessed wrong and Magee finished low and to the right.
Sean Johnson made a couple of difficult saves in the second half for the Fire (3-5-13) to preserve their MLS-leading 13th tie of the season. The Crew (6-7-9) had won two in a row.
