It wasn't a good day for former Marquette players, as Vander Blue and Trent Lockett were released on Thursday as NBA teams continued to work their way down to 15 with the regular season starting next week.

Blue was believed to be competing with former Temple guard Khalif Wyatt for one of Philadelphia's final roster spots, but both were released Thursday.
"Appreciated the opportunity here in Philly! But the grind will never stop! You'll see me shine somewhere! Love my WHOP fam!" Blue tweeted Thursday night.
Lockett, who spent his senior season at Marquette after spending three years at Arizona State, signed with Sacramento after going undrafted. He played a total of five minutes in the preseason and scored four points with two rebounds.
