SYDNEY (AP) Australia and New South Wales center Kurtley Beale will be out of action for between four and six months after tearing the patella tendon in his left knee during a Super Rugby match on Saturday.

The Australian Rugby Union said on its website Sunday that Beale, who signed a two-year contract to begin playing with Wasps next season in England, will miss the rest of the Super tournament and Australia's three-test home series against England.

Beale sustained the injury when he slipped while contesting a high ball just 41 seconds into New South Wales' 31-8 win against the Bulls.

He had just signed a multi-million-dollar deal to join Wasps, reportedly making him the richest player in English rugby.
