Minnesota Twins legends to throw ceremonial first pitches for All-Star festivities

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Twins were hoping to do everything they could to showcase the baseball history their state has to offer during this week's All-Star festivities.

The roster of ceremonial first pitches for Monday and Tuesday should help with that.

Major League Baseball announced Sunday that a quartet of St. Paul natives will throw out a ceremonial pitch before the Home Run Derby on Monday at Target Field. That group includes Hall of Famers Paul Molitor and Dave Winfield, former Twins pitcher Jack Morris, and current Minnesota first baseman Joe Mauer.

Additionally, the league announced that Hall of Famer and former Twin Rod Carew will throw out the first pitch before Tuesday's All-Star Game at Target Field. Carew, who spent 19 seasons in the majors and was elected to 18 consecutive All-Star Games, spent his first 12 years with the Twins.

Four members of the Minnesota RBI program will catch the first pitches from the St. Paul natives on Monday. Carew, meanwhile, will be accompanied to the mound by three members of local Little League organizations.
