Former Cowboy Ratliff seeking tryouts with other teams

A week after being released from the Cowboys for being too injured to play this season, defensive tackle Jay Ratliff is soliciting tryouts from other teams, according to a report by The Dallas Morning News.

The News reported that Ratliff’s agent, Mark Slough, sent an e-mail to NFL personnel directors Wednesday stating that his client is medically cleared to resume all football activities. Ratliff’s official release last Wednesday was labeled “failed physical.”

Slough told reporters last week that Ratliff’s hernia injury was more serious than the Cowboys’ described and he would need a year to recover. The e-mail sent to personnel directors said Ratliff would continue to train in Dallas with hopes of trying out for teams in a couple of weeks.

Ratliff injured his groin last November, which required surgery in December. He injured a hamstring doing a conditioning drill prior to training camp and was on the physically unable to perform list until his release last week.
