While the National Hockey League is back in full swing, a
couple of American Hockey League teams were fully swinging at each other late
last week.

A Jan. 19 brawl between the Grand Rapids Griffins (the Detroit Red
Wings' AHL affiliate) and Rockford IceHogs (Chicago Blackhawks) resulted in 192 penalty minutes and 13 ejections.

On Tuesday, the league handed down six suspensions. Two players —
the Griffins' Louis-Marc Aubry and IceHogs' Rob Flick — received lengthy
six-game suspensions for the fight, which took place midway through the second
period of an 11-6 Griffins victory.

In a colorful twist, Rockford wore pink sweaters during the
game for breast-cancer awareness.
