Tampa Bay Buccaneers reserve safety Cody Grimm was arrested early Sunday morning in Leesburg, Va., and charged with public intoxication, according to the Washington Post.

The report said Grimm, 26, a native of Fairfax, Va., returned to the region for a wedding and was arrested at a Hampton Inn at 5:30 a.m. According to the report, court records show he is scheduled for a July 9 hearing.

“Our players know our expectations on and off the field and we take these matters very seriously,” Bucs coach Greg Schiano said in a statement. “When we feel we have obtained all the necessary information, we will act accordingly.”

Grimm was charged with a misdemeanor, but he could face additional punishment because of an earlier public intoxication arrest on March 10 in Christiansburg, Va. He agreed to a $500,000 pay cut in April to preserve his roster spot.

Grimm was Tampa Bay’s seventh-round pick in 2010. He has 73 tackles and two interceptions in 23 career games.
