The Milwaukee Brewers made a series of roster moves Monday night, including optioning outfielder Caleb Gindl to Triple-A Nashville.

Gindl, 24, hit .364 in his first 11 spring training games but cooled off of late. Because of the World Baseball Classic, Gindl got an extended look but is hitting just .245 with three RBI in 53 at bats.

He'll head to Nashville for the third straight season. Gindl hit .261 with 12 home runs and 50 RBI in Triple A in 2012.

The Brewers also traded right-hander Jairo Asencio to Baltimore for a player to be named later or cash considerations. Asencio, 28, was signed to a minor league deal this offseason but had visa issues that prevented him from reporting to camp until recently.

Asencio appeared in just one spring training game for the Brewers, allowing two runs without recording an out. He pitched in 30 games with the Indians and Cubs in 2012.

Milwaukee placed left-hander Miguel De Los Santos on the restricted list Monday. He has not been able to join the Brewers due to visa issues, but has a shoulder injury that will keep him out until at least July.

With Monday's moves and the addition of Kyle Lohse, the Brewers have 39 players on the 40-man roster and 33 players in big league camp.
