Flyers' Gagner to miss at least one week with facial injury
Philadelphia Flyers forward Sam Gagner is expected to miss approximately one week with a facial injury, general manager Ron Hextall told reporters on Wednesday.
Gagner was lacerated near his left eye following a hard check by Carolina Hurricanes forward Brad Malone during Monday's 3-2 overtime victory. The 26-year-old Gagner was hospitalized following the game and went through concussion protocol, TSN's Bob MacKenzie reported.
Gagner has failed to make an immediate impact after being acquired from the Arizona Coyotes in June. He has collected two goals and three assists in 18 games this season.
The sixth overall pick of the 2007 draft, Gagner scored 118 goals and set up 223 others in 580 career contests with the Edmonton Oilers, Coyotes and Flyers.
