Former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner has been chosen to serve as the grand marshal for this year's Fiesta Bowl Parade.

Bowl committee president John Junker told a meeting of the Scottsdale Convention and Visitors Bureau on Tuesday that Warner also will participate in the coin toss to start the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 1. The game will be played at University of Phoenix Stadium in suburban Glendale.

Warner and his wife, Brenda, will headline the annual Dec. 31 parade down Central Avenue in Phoenix.

The 39-year-old Warner retired in January after a 12-year NFL career that included three Super Bowl appearances, winning the title with the St. Louis Rams in 2000. He was the NFL's MVP in 1999 and 2001.
