Heisman calling: TCU's Boykin is favorite in post-spring ranking

A year ago, he didn't even know if he'd be TCU's starting quarterback. Now Trevone Boykin is practically a household name across the nation as the early favorite to win the 2015 Heisman Trophy.

Sports Illustrated officially made the senior-to-be it's frontrunner for college football's most prestigious award with its ranking of the top 10 candidates.

Boykin, who threw for 3,714 yards with 30 touchdowns to just seven interceptions, won the job last spring and directed the Horned Frogs' new spread passing attack to 46.4 points per game, ranking second nationally. He returns to a unit that returns 10 starters, including impressive playmakers like running back Aaron Green and receivers Josh Doctson and Kolby Listenbee.

Rounding out SI's top five behind Boykin are Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones, the former third-stringer who rose up to guide the Buckeyes to the national title, Jones' teammate, running back Ezekiel Elliott, Georgia running back Nick Chubb and Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson.
