(STATS) - Incarnate Word has named formed Texas Tech offensive coordinator Eric Morris as its new coach.

Over the last five seasons, Morris led one of the more high-scoring offenses in the nation, with his 2015 unit setting Texas Tech's single-season school record with 45.1 points per game.

At Incarnate Word, Morris replaces Larry Kennan, who was fired on Nov. 27. Kennan helped the Cardinals transition to the Division I FCS level and posted a 20-46 record in six seasons. The Southland Conference program went 1-10 this past season.

Morris, a native of Shallowater, Texas, and a former wide receiver at Texas Tech, also has been an assistant coach at Houston and Washington State.
