William & Mary defeats College of Charleston 74-63

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) Marcus Thornton scored 26 points, making 10 of 17 field goal attempts, as William & Mary defeated College of Charleston 74-63 Monday night.

Brandon Britt added 15 for William & Mary (12-7, 4-2 Colonial Athletic Association).

Charleston (11-11, 3-4) led 34-25 at the half and held a 42-33 advantage with 15:54 remaining in the game. Thornton hit a 3-pointer that started William & Mary on a 13-2 run to take a 46-44 lead. Thornton then made a layup, jump shot and a 3-pointer to push the lead to 55-49 with 6:47 left.

The Tribe made 53.8 percent of their 13 3-point attempts, hitting 27 of 49 field goal attempts. They also made 13 of 18 free throw attempts while Charleston was only 5 of 7.

Anthony Stitt, who was 5 of 6 from beyond the arc, led Charleston with 18 points and Anthony Thomas had 16.
