KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) Martez Harrison scored 20 points while dishing out six assists to lead Missouri-Kansas City to a 70-45 win over Texas-Pan American on Thursday night.

Broderick Newbill contributed 11 points and Darius Austin added 10 as UMKC (10-14, 5-2 Western Athletic) shot 48.3 percent on 58 attempts from the field while holding UTPA (8-15, 2-5) to just 15 of 46. The win kept Kansas City within a game of first place, the highest it's been in WAC standings this far into conference play since the 2005-06 season.

The Kangaroos broke away midway through the first half with a 13-2 run that included a 3-pointer from Collin Jennings and took a 34-19 advantage into the break. The margin never tightened below double figures the rest of the way.

Shaquille Hines led UTPA with 15 points and Janari Joesaar added 13. The Broncs have lost six of their last seven games.
