Trey Kennedy scores 20, Southern Utah beats La Verne 105-85

CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) Trey Kennedy had 20 points, Travon Langston added 15 points and 13 rebounds and Southern Utah won its first game of the season on Thursday night, 105-85 over Division III La Verne.
The Thunderbirds (1-5) scored the first 15 points, and La Verne answered with a 14-3 run but would get no closer. Southern Utah closed the first half on a 25-7 run to lead 54-28 and cruised in the second half.
Juwan Major added 17 points and Aj Hess scored 14. Race Parsons, James Mcgee and John Marshall each chipped in 11 for the Thunderbirds, who shot 34 for 57 (59.6 percent).
Anthony White had 18 points, Nicholas Lewis scored 13 and Cruz Mertens 12. The game counted as an exhibition for La Verne (2-3), which made 15 of 37 from 3-point range.
