Kyle Spain scored 16 points and hit two key 3-pointers to lift San Diego State to a 57-46 win over UNLV on Saturday night. Spain made 3-point shots on consecutive possessions to give the Aztecs a 45-35 lead with 6:23 left in what had been a tight game throughout. Matt Thomas's 3-pointer put San Diego State (21-8, 11-5) ahead 39-34 at the 7:54 mark, which was the biggest lead for either team to that point. Lorrenzo Wade scored 15 points for the Aztecs, who won despite shooting 35.7 percent and committing 20 turnovers. San Diego State hit only 7 of 27 2-point attempts but went 8-for-15 from 3-point range. Tre'Von Willis had 16 points and Rene Rougeau added 16 for UNLV (21-9, 9-7), which plays San Diego State again on Thursday in the Mountain West Conference Tournament in Las Vegas.
