Sam Houston State rolls over Central Arkansas 76-49

HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) Kaheem Ransom and Paul Baxter had 12 points apiece to lead Sam Houston State to a 76-49 win over Central Arkansas on Monday night.

Michael Holyfield and Dakarai Henderson scored 11 each and DeMarcus Gatlin added 10 for the Bearkats.

Sam Houston State's defense thwarted Central Arkansas in the second half as the Bearkats started the final period with a 23-0 run to go up 56-26 at the 14:34 mark. The Bears did not score until Mathieu Kamba made a free throw with 11:26 left in the game.

SHSU (23-6, 14-2 Southland Conference) bounced back from its second conference loss, falling to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 61-59 on Saturday. The Bearkats trail Stephen F. Austin in the conference standings. SFA and SHSU will play Saturday. SFA won the first game 79-68.

Jordan Howard led Central Arkansas (2-25, 2-14) with 11 points and Albert Christensson added 10.
