Moten scores 16 and Mercer beats Furman 67-64

MACON, Ga. (AP) Darious Moten scored 16 points, T.J. Hallice added 13 and Ike Nwamu 12 as Mercer beat Furman 67-64 on Thursday night.

Hallice gave Mercer (10-9, 5-1 Southern Conference) the lead for good at 59-57 on a layup with 3:53 left.

Stephen Croone's free throws with 23 seconds left pulled Furman (4-12, 2-4) to 63-62, but the Bears made 4 of 6 free throws from there to secure the win.

The Bears led by 14 in the first half and went into the break with a 36-29 edge. The Paladins closed the gap to 42-40 with a 9-2 run and later tied it at 57 but never pulled ahead in the second half.

Devin Sibley was 4 of 4 from 3-point range to lead Furman with 21 points and Croone added 15.

Mercer was 24 of 41 (58.5 percent) from the field and outrebounded Furman 29-15.
