George Washington 69, Rhode Island 61

David Pellom scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as George Washington took control with a 20-5 run midway through the second half for a 69-61 win over Rhode Island Wednesday night.

Tony Taylor scored a team-high 18 points and Lasan Kromah finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Colonials (6-10, 1-2 Atlantic-10 Conference), who snapped a two-game losing streak.

Taylor scored seven points during the decisive run which saw the Colonials go from down 37-32 to up 52-42 on a pair of Nemanja Mikic free throws with 5:36 remaining. George Washington shot 59.1 percent (13 of 22) in the second half and took the lead for good at 39-37 on Pellom's alley-oop dunk with 13:48 left.

Billy Baron scored 18 points to lead the Rams (3-14, 0-2), who went more than 12 minutes without a field goal during the second half.
