Zach Lamb scored 18 points, including eight during a 12-2 run that helped Cal State Bakersfield pull away from Pepperdine 79-70 on Saturday night.

With the Roadrunners (2-1) nursing a 45-42 lead, Lamb hit two 3-pointers and a layup while Mo Hughley added four more points that put Bakersfield ahead 57-44 with 7:57 remaining. Stephon Carter also had four of his six assists during the spurt.

For the game, Lamb hit 7 of 10 shots and 3 of 4 3-pointers. Issiah Grayson added 15 points, Adam Young 11 and Carter 10 for the Roadrunners.

Nikolas Skouen had 16 points, Corbin Moore 15 and Taylor Darby 14 for Pepperdine (2-1), which committed 19 turnovers.

Both teams shot well. Bakersfield hit 55.6 percent of its shots from the field, including 10 of 17 3-pointers; Pepperdine shot 51.2 percent and made 8 of 15 3-pointers.
