Cobb paces Cincinnati past Morehead State 69-61

CINCINNATI (AP) Farad Cobb scored 24 points in 28 minutes after coming off the bench to lead Cincinnati to a 69-61 victory over Morehead State on Wednesday night.

Cobb, a junior-college transfer who played his freshman year at Chattanooga, made 8 of 14 shots, including 6 of 9 from 3-point range, in scoring his Division I career-high 24 points. Octavius Ellis added 16 points and Troy Caupain 13 for the Bearcats (2-0).

Brent Arrington scored 21 points to lead the Eagles (1-2) with Angelo Warner adding 14 and Kareem Storey 11.

Neither team shot well, both at 37 percent, and both had 35 rebounds. But Cincinnati went to the free-throw line 34 times and made 22, including Ellis, who made 10 of 13. The Eagles made 12 of 16.

The game was tied with 17:11 left. Cobb sparked a 23-12 run, making four 3-pointers and adding three more points during the surge.

The Bearkats' scored their last nine points at the line to hold off the Eagles.
