HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) Mike Rowley, who finished with 10 points, made a pair of free throws with one second on the clock as a balanced Albany defeated Quinnipiac 58-54 in a tense game on Tuesday night that had six timeouts called in the final 90 seconds.

Joe Cremo, who scored 11 points, stole the ball as time expired to preserve the win. Ray Sanders had 12 points and Evan Singletary 10 for the Great Danes (5-3), who defeated Quinnipiac for the first time as a Division I team.

Quinnipiac (2-3) was held to one point in the final 3:42 after Chaise Daniels tied the game at 53-53 with a layup. Daniel Harris made the first of two free throws with :01 on the clock, but the Bobcats were called for a lane violation when Harris tried to deliberately miss the second foul shot.

That sent Rowley to the line for the insurance points. Harris scored 19 to lead Quinnipiac.
