Watch Oscar trick the linesman and score in his expensive Chinese debut

Expectations were no doubt high for Oscar’s official debut for Shanghai SIPG. Being paid as much as £500,000 per week will do that.

Well, he has started paying for himself immediately. In his first non-friendly match for Shanghai, it took him just 34 minutes to score vs. Thai club Sukhothai in the Asian champions league — but it’s this bit of trickery that was a highlight:

The linesman cannot keep up with the former Chelsea midfielder. Oscar, who shared the video on Wednesday, seems to be adjusting to life in the Chinese Super League pretty well.

His goal was less eye-popping, but still a nice one. He collected a nice pass from Odil Akhmedov, steadied his aim and fired a well-placed shot:

Good goal? Yes. A goal worth up to £500,000 per week? Eh.

It’s only his first match for Shanghai and there’s plenty of time ahead for fireworks. What matters is that Oscar is off to a good start and he helped Shangai beat Sukhothai, 3-0, to advance in the AFC Champions League.
