Olympic and World Cup skiing champion Lindsey Vonn suffered a broken arm after crashing during training in Colorado on Thursday.

This is the latest setback for the three-time Olympian, whose season was cut short by a knee injury last March and had eyed a return at the Lake Louise races in Alberta in early December.

"Unfortunately, yesterday I crashed while training in Copper and severely fractured the humerus bone in my right arm," Vonn wrote in a Facebook post Friday, posting pictures of the break and adding that she had successful surgery in Vail.

"While I am beyond frustrated by this latest setback, at least my knees are ok and I will return to the slopes as soon as possible, as I always do!"
