Dolphins rookie WR DeVante Parker expected to play Week 1

The Miami Dolphins have a new bevy of wide receivers for Ryan Tannehill this season, with newcomers Greg Jennings, Kenny Stills, and DeVante Parker joining Jarvis Landry and Rishard Matthews.

Unfortunately, the Dolphins haven't really seen what their first-round pick, Parker, can do. He's been sidelined after undergoing foot surgery, forcing him to miss most of camp.

However, it appears as though Parker will be ready and on the field in Week 1, according to offensive coordinator Bill Lazor. Lazor said Parker is expected to play on Sunday against the Redskins, but he's unsure how much he'll actually play.

At the very least, getting Parker on the field is a good sign for his availability for the rest of the season. As a rookie, he hasn't had much time to get acclimated to the speed of the NFL or an NFL playbook. He'll still need time to adjust to both, but it seems like he's healthy, at least.

Parker is expected to be a big playmaker in the Dolphins' offense and is another weapon for Tannehill this season.
