Hoyer inactive, Weeden starts for Texans

Published Dec. 27, 2015 12:48 p.m. ET

With starting quarterback Brian Hoyer sidelined another week due a concussion, Brandon Weeden got the start for the Houston Texans in Sunday's 34-6 win against the Tennessee Titans.

Weeden completed 15 of 24 passes for 200 yards and two touchdowns in the win over Tennessee, while rushing for another score.

Hoyer was declared inactive Sunday, making Weeden the fourth different quarterback to start a game for Houston this season. Hoyer, T.J. Yates and the since-released Ryan Mallett have all started for the 7-7 Texans this year.

Last week, Weeden led the Texans to a 16-13 win over the Indianapolis Colts in relief of Yates, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in the second quarter.

Hoyer was injured during the Texans' Dec. 13 loss to the New England Patriots. He returned to practice on a limited basis this week, but has not yet been cleared to play.

B.J. Daniels, who was signed off Seattle's practice squad last week, served as Weeden's backup against the Titans.
