San Diego’s Petco Park will play host to the fourth annual Military Appreciation Night during the 2017 Monster Energy Supercross season.

The event will take place earlier in the year than usual, as San Diego has moved up to the second round of the 2017 season, with the gate set to drop on Jan. 14.

The United Service Organizations (USO) San Diego nonprofit organization will again partner with the organizers of the event. The USO San Diego, established in 1941, serves active-duty reserve, guard and military families in southern California.

Since the program’s inception in 2014, the Military Appreciation Race has raised over $100,000 in direct support of various military service organizations in San Diego, with over $30,000 being raised from the 2016 event.

Several riders usually sport military-themed liveries at the event. Following the race, several pieces of gear worn during the event will be auctioned off, with all proceeds going to benefit the USO San Diego.

"USO San Diego is honored to once again be the beneficiary of the 2017 Monster Energy Supercross Military Appreciation Race and its incredibly supportive community of fans, teams and riders," said Arne Nelson, USO San Diego Chief Executive Officer. "The funds raised will provide much-needed support for our free programs and services offered to the region's Active Duty, Reserve, Guard, and their families. We hope to see you all there!"

Supercross adds that members of the military can receive $10 off select tickets by using the code USOSD (additional fees may apply). Additionally, all military members will receive free access to the Pit Party with valid identification (limit one entry per ID).
