David Ross set a World Series record with his clutch homer in Game 7

Chicago Cubs catcher David Ross entered Game 7 of the World Series in the bottom of the fifth inning as Jon Lester came on to pitch, and things did not start well.

Jason Kipnis hit a dribbler and Ross raced out to get it -- but fired a bad throw to first base that allowed Indians runners to advance to second and third. Both of those runs then scored on a wild pitch by Lester to make it 5-3 Cubs in the fifth.

Well, Ross quickly made good on that error.

In the top of the sixth inning, he hit a home run off Andrew Miller and made World Series history with the dinger, becoming the oldest player ever to homer in a Game 7 (see video above).

Ross is also the oldest player to homer in any World Series game in over 20 years.

He plans to retire after Wednesday night, and what an amazing way to cap off a big league career.
