Despite a report from NBC out of Dallas that SMU’s Chad Morris has accepted the Baylor head coaching job, sources told FOX Sports Tuesday afternoon that it’s not true, adding that BU hasn’t offered the job to anyone at this point.

Morris, a 47-year-old Texas native, is in his second year at SMU and has coached the Mustangs to a 5-6 record after a 2-10 debut season with the downtrodden program. A successful Texas high school coach before a stint as Clemson’s offensive coordinator, Morris is believed to be a viable option for the Bears.

Morris reportedly told the Dallas Morning News that he had not yet been contacted by Baylor as of Tuesday afternoon.

Baylor is 6-4 under acting head coach Jim Grobe who took over after Art Briles was forced out amid the sexual assault scandal that rocked the university.
