SE Louisiana uses big first half, beats New Orleans 71-64 (Feb 14, 2018)

HAMMOND, La. (AP) Jordan Capps scored 12 of his 18 points in the first half as Southeastern Louisiana built a 23-point halftime advantage and cruised to a 71-64 victory over New Orleans on Wednesday night.

Southeastern Louisiana (17-10, 11-3 Southland Conference) has won five of its last six games, and has 17 wins for the first time since the 2009-10 season. New Orleans (13-12, 10-4) has lost two of its last three since having its four-game win streak snapped.

Capps was 7 of 14 from the field. Marlain Veal added 14 points and Moses Greenwood 11 for the Lions.

Troy Green scored 13 points and Lamont Berzat had 11 to lead New Orleans.

Southeastern Louisiana built a 40-17 halftime advantage, and led by 25 a minute into the second. The Privateers answered with a 22-7 run to pull 51-41 midway through the second half, but couldn't cut the deficit to single digits until the final minute.
