Boum scores 26 in San Francisco's 84-61 romp over Portland (Dec 30, 2017)

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) Souley Boum scored a career-high 26 points and San Francisco cruised to an 84-61 victory over Portland on Saturday night.

Boum made 8 of 11 shots from the floor, including 3 of 6 from 3-point range, and 7 of 9 free throws for the Dons (9-6, 1-1 West Coast Conference). Chase Foster added 13 points and seven rebounds, Erik Poulsen scored 14 and Jordan Ratinho 12. Matt McCarthy grabbed 11 rebounds as San Francisco controlled the boards 51-23.

The Dons shut down the Pilots (6-9, 0-2) by taking away what they do best. Portland entered the game as the WCC's top 3-point shooting team at 41 percent and was averaging 10.1 baskets from beyond the arc. But USF held the Pilots to just 4 of 12 (33 percent) from long range, while knocking down 15 of 42 (36 percent).

Marcus Shaver Jr. led the Pilots with 12 points.

Foster and Poulsen had 10 points each as the Dons built a 46-28 lead by halftime. The Pilots cut the deficit to 64-53 with 7:18 left to play, but Boum scored 10 as USF answered with a 15-0 run for a 79-53 lead with 2:44 remaining.
