Andrew McCutchen - Sitting Friday McCutchen is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Brewers, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Impact After going hitless in his final three games of July, McCutchen has collected five hits in his first three games of August. The 36-year-old will get what looks like a routine breather as Bryan Reynolds takes a turn as the designated hitter. Josh Palacios will start in left field and bat leadoff against right-hander Colin Rea.

Ke'Bryan Hayes - On bench Friday Hayes is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Brewers, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Impact Jeff Triolo gets the start at third base, batting sixth against right-hander Colin Rea. There has been no word of a setback with Hayes' lower back nor has there been any mention of a new injury, so it seems the Pirates are just being cautious with Hayes and easing him back into regular action following his IL stint. Hayes has gone 1-for-7 with an RBI in his first two games back.

Andre Jackson - Activated to big-league roster Jackson was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.
Impact Acquired from the Dodgers at the end of June, Jackson will now get his first opportunity with the Pirates, replacing Dauri Moreta (back) in the Pittsburgh bullpen. Jackson has pitched to a 3.38 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in five appearances with Indianapolis to date -- a significant improvement on the 5.86 and 1.54 marks he had with Oklahoma City prior to the trade.

Dauri Moreta - Lands on injured list The Pirates placed Moreta on the 15-day injured list Friday with lower back soreness, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.
Impact After giving up three runs on three hits and two walks over one inning Thursday against Milwaukee, Moreta will be sidelined for at least two weeks. The 27-year-old righty holds a 4.10 ERA and 1.20 WHIP on the season and figures to return when eligible in late August.

Impact An official move to call up Falter likely won't come until before Saturday's game, but he is currently with the team and preparing to make his first MLB start since May and his first as a Pirate. The 26-year-old southpaw holds a 5.13 ERA and 1.44 WHIP through 40.1 frames this season, but he will be facing a Brewers offense that ranks last in the NL with a .692 OPS and has struggled against left-handers all season.

Impact After striking out Zach McKinstry to open the game, Bido served up a hanging changeup to Riley Greene in the next at-bat, which the center fielder crushed over the center field wall to put the Tigers up 1-0.
