Indians 1B LaPorta out with hip injury

Cleveland Indians first baseman Matt LaPorta is out of the

lineup for Monday night’s game with the Chicago White Sox because

of a strained left hip.

LaPorta was injured while batting in the fourth inning Sunday

against Kansas City. He said he heard a cracking or popping in his

hip. It’s the same hip he had surgery on last October.

Indians manager Manny Acta says LaPorta is feeling better and

isn’t expected to miss much playing time. Acta says LaPorta is

likely to be back in the lineup on Wednesday.

LaPorta is hitting .234 with nine homers and 34 RBIs in 87

games.
