Ryan Howard hits HR after replay review

Published Jul. 23, 2012 8:41 p.m. ET

Ryan Howard was credited with a home run after a video review showed his drive to left field cleared the fence in the first inning of the Philadelphia Phillies' game against Milwaukee on Monday night.

Howard stopped at second base when umpires ruled the ball stayed in play, but the crew quickly overturned their call after watching the replay. The ball sailed over the flower bed behind the fence and landed back on the field before Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun threw it back in.

Howard connected two pitches after Chase Utley also went deep off Randy Wolf.
