Ross on Schwarber: 'He belongs here'

Kyle Schwarber made his Major League debut Tuesday night and his Cubs' teammates were happy to see him in their clubhouse.

"He belongs here and it's nice to have him around," David Ross told Cubs.com. "The numbers he was putting up in the Minor Leagues were crazy. I think we're a better team with him in our lineup."

Schwarber was hitting .320 in Double-A before the call-up and the Cubs have said that once he's sent back down in a couple day, he will report to Triple-A Iowa.

The 22-year old will only be with the Major League team for a few days, but the Cubs believe it could be a crucial time for his development.

"We believe in his bat and we think he can help us win some games in his brief stint up here," Cubs president of baseball operations Theo Epstein said.
