Reyes succeeds where many athletes falter -- the rap game

Published Feb. 26, 2014 5:30 p.m. ET

Rapping ain'€™t easy.

Yet pro athletes continuously try their hand at both hustling and flowing --€“ some with better results than others.

Whether it'€™s just freestyling with their buddies in the locker room or spending the cash to actually produce a track or album in a professional studio, pro athletes remain adept at showing their MC skills or lack thereof in some way or another.

On Wednesday, Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Jose Reyes graced the mic while on Sportsnet'€™s CONNECTED AM. After talking preseason baseball (snore ...) he livened things up when prompted by the show'€™s anchors.

And wouldn'€™t you know it, he'€™s damn good. You don'€™t have to speak Spanish to pick up what he'€™s laying down (Though if you do speak Spanish, please translate in the comments section below. He says "amigo" a lot, so I can only imagine he is rapping about sandwiches.).

Check the rhyme:

While Reyes succeeds, many have fallen before him. Here are some highlights including successes and failures. I'€™ll let you be the judge.

Kid Sensation feat. Ken Griffey Jr - The Way I Swing

Deion Sanders - Must Be The Money

Shaquille O'Neal - I'm Outstanding

L.A. Rams - Ram It

Chicago Bears - 1985 Super Bowl Shuffle

Carl Lewis - Break It Up

Alexander Ovechkin - Champion

Kobe Bryant feat. Tyra Banks - K.O.B.E.

Juan Pierre

Steve Francis - Finer Things

Chris Webber - feat. Kurupt - Gangsta, Gangsta

But if you want my two cents, Carl Lewis is the clear winner here.
