Colorado Rockies left-hander Brett Anderson will have season-ending surgery to repair a disk in his lower back, MLB.com reports.
Anderson left his Aug. 5 start after only three innings because of back discomfort.
Anderson, who missed three months earlier this season because of a fractured left index finger that required surgery, is 1-3 with a 2.91 ERA in eight starts.

Since going 11-11 with a 4.06 ERA in 30 starts as a rookie in 2009 with the Oakland Athletics, Anderson has failed to appear in 20 major-league games in any of the past five seasons because of a variety of injuries.
