ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) The Texas Rangers recalled Anthony Ranaudo from Triple-A Round Rock to start their series finale against the Los Angeles Angels.

Texas added Ranaudo to its 25-man roster before Wednesday afternoon's game.

Right-handed reliever Phil Klein was optioned to Round Rock after Tuesday night's game. Klein has a 7.71 ERA in six appearances this season.

Texas later assigned left-handed reliever Sam Freeman outright to Round Rock. Freeman had been designated for assignment 10 days earlier when the Rangers put together their initial 25-man roster.

Kyuji Fujikawa will be reassigned to Round Rock on Friday to continue his rehab from a groin issue. Fujikawa threw one inning Tuesday for Double-A Frisco.

Ranaudo made his debut for Texas, pitching in place of injured starter Derek Holland. The right-hander allowed six runs and was done after 1 2-3 innings.

The Rangers acquired Ranaudo from Boston in a trade last January. He made his major league debut last season with the Red Sox, with seven starts over four stints.
