Prosecutors in Cleveland say they won't file charges against Indians pitcher Danny Salazar, who was the subject of a sexual-assault investigation.

Police spokeswoman Jennifer Ciaccia released a statement Wednesday saying, "Detectives presented the case involving rape allegations with the suspect being Danny Salazar to the city prosecutor's office today and no charges were issued against Mr. Salazar."

According to a police report sent to The Associated Press, officers were called to University Hospital's emergency room at 7:25 a.m. on Jan. 23 and interviewed a woman about a sexual complaint. The woman said the incident took place at 10:30 p.m. the previous night at the Hustler Club.

Salazar is not named in the incident report.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Indians said they were aware of an investigation involving Salazar, who is expected to compete for a starter's job at spring training. The 25-year-old went 6-8 in 20 starts last season, when he bounced between the Indians and Triple-A Columbus.
